A Minor Respite.. Feb 20th Feedback

I am back in Tampa.

I am going back to Boston on March 8th.

Honeybells will be out of season. What should I use next?

On Giving: Some Ground Rules

1. Sometimes you have to fib. Tell very small ones and it is an easier process.

2. You can check fruit at the Airport.

3. Carry a few on hand so that when your bags are lost you can continue.

4. Don't take pictures of people. Take pictures of things.

5. Try to leave the fruit places where people can reasonably retrieve it. ie. Do not place it on the Statue of John Harvard.

6. Place it in places where someone wouldn't immediately not want to eat it. ie. bathroom stalls, on the ground, on the Statue of John Harvard.

Feb 11th- Chicago

I admit, it is a bit flamboyant, but since it is zero degrees outside, it is unlikely that this shower will be getting much use today.

Feb 10th - Chicago

Living out of a suitcase is a weary lifestyle. Even more wearying is the temptation of the minibar. I wonder if the next occupants will be charged?

Feb 9th- Chicago

After the sheer relief of being able to say good bye to the rental car and the barren winterscape of Wisconsin, I was delighted to see thousands of green plants.
Not a moment too soon, After a week of hard traveling, the tangerines are only going to be fresh for another day or so.

Feb 9th Minneapolis

Second attempt to give away something. This time, there is a note. At this point there is some experimentation with style of gifting.

Feb 8 Minneapolis

Can a tangerine ever forgive a rumpled bed?

Feb 7- Minneapolis

I lost over sixteen hours of a day and what seems like part of my life driving to Minneapolis. A nice local coffee house seemed like a fair way to regain my spirits and give a peace offering in exchange for a safe drive back to Chicago.

Feb 6- Chicago

Between flights the Airline Attendants go through the back pockets int he seats. My returned copy of Don Quixote attests to that. Sometimes... they don't and you find a nice copy of The Harvard Business Review, or maybe a tangerine.

Feb 6- Flying into Chicago

It was a complete whiteout. I lost track of the ground almost as soon as we reached our cruising altitude of 33,000 feet.

Feb 5- Northampton, MA

This is as far as I got on my Trek to Albany/Troy NY. Around five pm, I gave up trying to reach my goal and settled down for dinner and left dessert.

Feb 5- Boston, MA

I felt a little more daring today and left this on a ledge of a hotel concierge.

Feb 5- Revere, MA

Outside of Boston, after four hours of driving. It took three hours to get to Boston and one hour to find my hotel. I had what was possibly the best night's sleep ever.

Feb 4- NYU Tisch School of the Arts

After a disastrous visit to NYU, it seems only right to leave something on the Take Away desk. Flyers, scholarship applications, Tangerines.

Feb 4- Brooklyn, Near Pratt

I was approached by an elderly lady who wanted to tell me about the bible and life everlasting.

Since she was giving me an AWAKE booklet, I figured it would be nice to give her a tangerine.

Documented after she walked away with a duplicate fruit.

Subway Station- Brooklyn, G Line

A Friendly New Yorker (no sarcasm at all) offered to return this one to me, as she came off the train.

"Is that yours?"

"no, it's ok."

Sometimes it is necessary to lie a little to give things away.

I shared a knowing smile with a stranger who saw me drop it off.

Feb 3- Queens NY

At this point, I was able to go into my 1/4 bushel of tangerines and my two pounds of oranges. Since I am staying with my cousins for this leg of the trip, I have given them the oranges. My camera is confused about the date.

Feb 3, Tampa International Airport- Boarding

A bit more tricky. A swift shot behind the back to not arouse attention.

Feb 3, Tampa International Airport- Starbucks

A practice drop in an inconspicuous place.
